The Application Architect is responsible for designing and overseeing the structure of Avant’s software- and Web-based products and services, as well as overseeing the team responsible for building those systems. The Application Architect will directly supervise the work of the application development team and will work closely with members of the Business Analysis team to design technical requirements that meet the functional requirements, as well as working with the Digital PMO in the execution of software projects. The Application Architect must be well-versed in software and database architectures, object-oriented development tools, and agile development methodologies, and must be an effective leader capable of handling multiple projects at the same time.

Proven knowledge of product and project management processes, and demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams as well as mentor and develop staff.

Reporting to the CIO the IT Director strategically leads, directs, organizes, and manages the development and operation of Infrastructure and computer system solutions, supporting the corporate mission of delivering HCP medical education experiences. This position requires highly experienced leader and a high level of knowledge and hands-on proficiency in computer infrastructure and network design, system security, systems operations, and supplier management. TEAM STORIES: MY FIRST 90 DAYS

I had no idea what I was getting into when I when I initially accepted a short-term contract position with Avant Healthcare (AH). I had no experience in medical communication—I was never part of a graphic design team and everyone spoke in acronyms. I just nodded my head, said okay, and designed away! I quickly learned the lingo, product and process names, and discovered that AH is filled with amazing people who are caring, thoughtful, and dedicated.

Right away, I started working on billable presentations with one client team and around the time of my contract ending, a different client team asked me to be their newest presentation designer. I immediately said “Yes!” Within the first 2 months of working here, there was no question and no doubt that I wanted to be a part of the family. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be part of something awesome?

Of course, it wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine… There have been a couple of really late nights and the typical learning curves associated with working at a new company—especially with multiple team members working on a project, different clients, and learning how to read complex medical data. But, I adapted quickly and still love the work that I do.

My projects keep me interested. I enjoy the challenges and problem-solving that they present while making designs come to life with animation. My role keeps me on my toes—it’s ever-changing, boredom is nonexistent, and I come into work every day ready to tackle what’s ahead with a team to back me up when I have conflicting deadlines. I constantly learn new techniques and tricks that let me grow as a designer, and that is really important to me—when a company promotes the growth of their employees. I could go on about all the good things that I have experienced but the best part of my first 90 days here… is finally being able to do what I do best and getting to work with such a fantastic team!
