Having the Talk
A Live Medical Presentation Exploring Dyspareunia

Dyspareunia (painful sex due to menopause) is an often-overlooked disease. Both patients and physicians are uncomfortable discussing the sexual issues surrounding it. Women often do not realize this condition is due to physiological changes during menopause, and that it is treatable. As part of a disease state campaign to help our client raise awareness of dyspareunia, we organized a live medical presentation at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas. Featuring a patient speaker and four key opinion leaders who led discussions on the science behind the disease, this program provided physicians with approaches to talk with their patients about dyspareunia. Our creative team plotted out every detail to ensure the live event’s success. We designed the set pieces, made sketches of the stage set-up, and hired a coach who specializes in coaching speakers for TED Talks. The event was later used as an enduring activity on ReachMD. We also developed the scientific content and medical story that was presented at the event, driving home for attendees the pressing, unmet need of this disease.
